The Validity of the test lasts for two years

There are two types of IELTS Exam:

  1. Academic Test: This test is taken up by aspirants willing to go abroad for education purpose. This test reflects your suitability towards the course you are willing to take up and whether or not you are ready to start the course.
  2. General Test: This test is recommended for aspirants looking to go abroad with work perspective or permanent residency.

The Listening and Reading part of both the IELTS test is the same whereas there might be a difference between the speaking and writing section of the test while you take General Test depending on the country you are opting for.

There are two ways in which an IELTS exam is conducted:

Paper-Based IELTS: This test is a pen and paper-based format wherein the answers are penned down on the IELTS answer sheet. In a paper-based test, a student will have to ensure that the answers are as per the set word limit.

Computer Delivered IELTS: This type of test provides more opportunity as per the availability criteria as computer-delivered tests are growing rapidly and more test takers can take the test at a time. There is no difference in the difficulty level, scoring, Report Form, content, timing and structure of the test whether you take the test on paper or on the computer.

Note: The speaking section is taken face to face in both the platforms of the exam which is conducted by a certified IELTS examiner.

The International English Language Test (IELTS) has been designed to gauge an understanding of your ability to study, and be able to migrate to a country where the native language is English.
